About the Middle School Principal

Mount Vernon Middle School Principal, Bob Haugse

My family and I enjoy living in Mount Vernon and are excited to be part of the Mount Vernon Community and school district. My wife, Michelle, is a kindergarten teacher in the Linn-Mar Community School District and we have three children. Josh is in college, Jake is a junior at Mount Vernon High School, and Carleigh will be in 6th grade. 

My educational background includes a bachelor’s degree in 1999 from the University of Northern Iowa. I hold certifications in U.S. and World History with an emphasis in teaching, K-12 coaching, and Driver’s Education. I hold a master’s degree from Drake University in K-12 Administration. I began my teaching career at Regis Middle School teaching World History for five years before accepting a middle school teaching position in the Mount Vernon School District teaching U.S. History. I then decided to pursue administrative roles and became the Middle School Athletic Director and now serve as Middle School Principal.
