About the Middle School Principal

Mount Vernon Middle School Principal, Bob Haugse

My family and I enjoy living in Mount Vernon and are excited to be part of the Mount Vernon Community and school district. My wife, Michelle, is a kindergarten teacher in the Linn-Mar Community School District and we have three children.  Josh and Jake have both graduated from Mount Vernon, and Carleigh will also graduate from Mount Vernon  in the near future.  

My educational background includes a bachelor’s degree in 1999 from the University of Northern Iowa. I hold certifications in U.S. and World History with an emphasis in teaching, K-12 coaching, and Driver’s Education. I hold a master’s degree from Drake University in K-12 Administration. I began my teaching career at Regis Middle School teaching World History for five years before accepting a middle school teaching position in the Mount Vernon School District teaching U.S. History. I then decided to pursue administrative roles and became the Middle School Athletic Director and now serve as Middle School Principal.
