After-School Pick-Up Safety Reminder

As we wrap up the school year, I want to address a few important safety concerns during after-school pick-up.

To keep all students safe, please avoid picking up students at the base of the horseshoe. This area creates several unsafe conditions, including:

• Children crossing the road to reach waiting vehicles

• Double lanes and traffic congestion

• Vehicles attempting to exit against the traffic flow

• Confusion caused when the gate is left open

We ask that all parents wait to pull into the horseshoe to pick up their children and remain in line to exit. Please note: exiting through the gate between the Middle School and Elementary is not allowed until after buses have left.

The Mount Vernon Community School District is currently conducting a traffic study to find long-term solutions to campus traffic concerns. Thank you for helping us keep our students safe!
